In 1955, Ford wrote to a Pulitzer-winning poet in Brooklyn asking her to name a car. For six weeks she mailed in suggestions: the Intelligent Whale, the Mongoose Civique, the Pastelogram. Her name was Marianne Moore. Ford picked something else.
